Kitwanga

Kitwanga, or Gitwangak ("place of rabbits"), is located where the Kitwancool River runs into the Skeena. The village, accessed from Highway 37 is the site of outstanding totem poles, some more than a century old, as well as the 1893 St. Paul's Anglican Church.

The "Battle Hill" National Historic Site is nearby. This site commemorates the struggle of Battle Hill, when Gitwangak warriors rolled logs down the hill to stop attackers from other tribes in about 1600.
