Skidegate

The Haida Heritage Centre is located on a rocky headland at Second Beach between Skidegate Landing and the main part of the Village of Skidegate.  It has galleries displaying Haida history, restored totem poles, Bill Reid carvings, pioneer settlements and a natural history gallery of QCI birds, mammals and fossils.

In the Village of Skidegate, a huge cedar longhouse faces the beach and is fronted by a dogfish totem pole carved by Bill Reid.  The longhouse is the Skidegate Band Council office.  Many carvers work in Skidegate, with argillite, silver and gold.

Skidegate is primarily residential, however, visitors will find a cafe, gift shop and laundromat.

BC Ferries docks here.
