A Breathtaking Route

The Skeena is a 1,160 km two-day light land cruise through Yellowhead Pass, across British Columbia’s interior plateau and down the Skeena River valley to the Pacific Coast, offering views of stunning and varied landscapes that simply cannot be seen any other way:

• Peaks in the Rockies between Jasper and Prince George, including the highest Mount Robson.
• Waterfalls, rivers, lakes and great stretches of wilderness, home to the salmon, seal , bear, moose, elk, deer, wolf and eagle.
• Totem poles and traces of pioneer history alongside the tracks.
• The Coastal Mountains and mighty Skeena, or “river of mists” in the native Gitksan language, between Prince George and Prince Rupert

Year Round Departures

The Skeena departs three times weekly from either the Rocky Mountain resort town of Jasper, where it connects with the Canadian, or Prince Rupert on the north Pacific Coast. During the peak period from mid-May to the end of September the train departs four times weekly.

Eastbound or westbound the train stops for the night in Prince George. (Overnight accommodation and transfers are not included in train fare.)

Classes of Service

Comfort class -  is the economical way to take in the sights from large picture windows in the comfort of roomy seats with headrests.

Totem class - available during the peak period only, includes all meals and exclusive access to the Park car. You’ll enjoy delicious regional cuisine at your seat, 360 degree views from the Park car’s scenic dome and engaging company in the Mural and Bullet lounges.

Totem Deluxe class -  also only available during the peak period, offers you all the Totem class privileges, including the dining pleasures- continental breakfast, cold lunch, great dinner with wine- plus reserved seating throughout your trip in VIA Rail’s new, totally enclosed glass-domed Panorama car.
